In vielen Ländern stellt die psychische Gesundheit junger Menschen eine wachsende gesellschaftliche Herausforderung dar. Vor diesem Hintergrund findet am 2. Juni 2026 das Symposium „Prevention and Youth Mental Health: Evidence-Based Policymaking“ am College for Social Sciences and Humanities in Essen statt.
Das Symposium widmet sich innovativen Präventionsstrategien zur Förderung der psychischen Gesundheit junger Menschen. Im Mittelpunkt stehen die Panels:
- Understanding and Tackling Youth Disadvantage through Data
- School-Based Prevention Approaches to Mental Health
- Social Media, Cell Phones and Youth Well-Being

Across many countries, youth mental health is a growing societal challenge. Against this backdrop, the symposium “Prevention and Youth Mental Health: Evidence-Based Policymaking” will take place on 2 June 2026 at the College for Social Sciences and Humanities in Essen.
The symposium explores innovative community based prevention strategies to improve youth mental health. It offers evidence and practical insights that can inform investments in community prevention programmes and guide future policy and programme development.
The topics will be discussed in three panels:
- Understanding and Tackling Youth Disadvantage through Data
- School-Based Prevention Approaches to Mental Health
- Social Media, Cell Phones and Youth Well-Being
